Emporium Store Opening
Scanlan Theodore is pleased to unveil its reimagined Emporium boutique, designed in partnership with acclaimed interior designers, Studio McQualter. The concept welcomes a highly curated shopping experience in the heart of Melbourne CBD.
Situated in Melbourne’s luxury shopping precinct, Emporium Melbourne, the refurbishment sees the space expand to double its original size taking the Scanlan Theodore retail experience to a new level of style and sophistication.
Reconfigured exteriors featuring three striking, zinc trimmed windows backed by aluminum metal louvres and towering entrance doors. Equally luxurious details fill the interior of the retail space, with design moments to inspire an experience of intimate luxury from navy blue columns, hand cut glass mosaic tiles, framed boxed display windows, custom made blackened curved metal shelving, and a point-of-sale reception wrapped in belting leather.
“The high-end furnishings add a stylish finishing touch with desks, chairs, sideboards, and tables sourced from some of the most coveted names in mid-20th Century design from Olivetti, Parisi, Starck, Bossy and EttoreSottsass to create a compelling shopping environment.”

At the soul of the boutique’s interior, poured French Grey terrazzo floors, 4-metre-tall ceilings featuring repeated architectural coffers enclosing recessed lighting, alongside eclectic wall, desk, floor, and sconce lamps from iconic Italian innovators - Guzzini, Micolitti and Stilnovo all combined to give the store its signature glow of timeless, understated elegance.
Synonymous with Scanlan Theodore designs, the fitting rooms make shopping effortless, relaxed, and an intuitive experience, featuring a custom mirror, De Poortere Richelieu Velours wool carpets from Belgium, exquisite seating and a vast 1940’s Murano Glass ceiling chandelier. The VIP styling suite is its own distinct and intimate space with bespoke furnishings and lighting from the likes of Denmark’s Henning Larsen and Italy’s Tobia Scarpa, complete with its own refreshment bar.
Committed to celebrating a multitude of contemporary Australian artists, the boutique showcases seven distinctive abstract artworks from Stefan Dunlop, Zak Tilley, Emma Itzstein, Gareth Sansom, Lara Merrett, Julian Hooper, and Ed Bats.
“Their colourful, eye catching paintings may range in size, but all speak to their lived & artistic experience in one form or another helping to make Scanlan Theodore a unique destination and Emporium Melbourne is no exception.”
